Million Dollar Tan's CEO, Lindsay Dickhout, is also the Executive Director of The Happiness Project, an organization that assists children in need in Orange County. Since 2002, Lindsay has been volunteering at shelters and soup kitchens. Realizing that there was a gap in what some shelters were able to provide and what children needed, Lindsay started The Happiness Project in 2007.
To date, The Happiness Project has assisted over 4,000 children in Orange County, CA. The group provides assistance for children in many ways. The Happiness Project helps to provide birthday presents for children who otherwise would go without, pay for field trips so children are able to attend, provide school supplies and clothing and provide gift cards for groceries. They also helps children who need unique medical attention find special care and doctors who will donate a part of their services.
In early December every year, The Happiness Project hosts a big party at South Coast Plaza for children in need in the community. The event has grown to 400 children and 400 volunteers. Children meet with Santa and receive a large bag with presents, visit over 20 activity and craft stations, have dinner, visit a photo booth, play XBox and Playstation games, receive a bag filled with yummy treats, decorate a frame to put their picture with Santa in, have their face painted and nails done, watch a magic show and much more. This event is magical for the children involved. Many of the children wait until Christmas Day to open their big bag of presents.
Million Dollar Tan donates a portion of their proceeds to support The Happiness Project. Lindsay is passionate about helping children and their families. She believes that every child deserves all of the opportunities in the world. Lindsay's Million Dollar Tan team runs the organization so there are ZERO employee or overhead costs. 100% of all donations go directly to benefit children in need in the community. Nothing is more glamorous than that!
